Celebrity Infinity Tour – Solsticized

The Celebrity Infinity serves approximately 2,000 passengers and is a Celebrity Millennium Class ship, which means that it shares its size and design with Celebrity’s Millennium, Summit and Constellation. The Infinity was “solsticized” for 2012 to provide it with many of the features of Celebrity’s extremely successful Solstice ship. I took a Celebrity Infinity Tour both before an after the upgrade. The changes enhance the guest experience. Highlights of “solsticizing” are:

Qsine – ultra modern in appearance, menu and service.  Guests at this Deck 11 location receive an iPad to use in ordering portions similar to tapas or dim sum.  Stay as long as you want and eat whatever you want for the $40 cover charge.  The iPad can also be used to interactively mix drink ingredients.  Shake the iPad after selecting ingredients and it names the drink as well as allowing you to order it.  Email the record of your meal to your own email ID from the iPad.  This is an amazing integration of technology, entertainment and fine “Qsine”.  Nicely done, Celebrity!

Martini Ice Bar, Celebrity Infinity Tour

Martini Ice Bar

The Martini Ice Bar – this is a great new feature on Deck 4.  Extensive seating around this bar, plus the counter is ice!  It might seem gimmicky, but it is an enticing atmosphere.  An excellent addition.

The Bistro on Five with Cafe al Bacio and the Gelateria – this is consistent with the trend in the cruise ship industry to make coffee and light snacks the centerpiece of the onboard experience.

Blu – separate dining for AquaClass guests.

Celebrity Infinity Tour – Recent Upgrades

The Constellation Lounge on Deck 11 was refurbished and its appearance has been pleasantly improved.  The decor is more modern and inviting.  This was already one of the best features of the ship with its open area and large wall to wall glass windows, but it now has a look that is as impressive as its structural design.

The Oceanview Cafe on Deck 10 had the carpet, tables and chairs redone, but I can’t rate this as an improvement in appearance.  The Oceanview Cafe remains the best place to enjoy an ocean view meal.  It’s a great place to spend time looking for whales or watching the Panama Canal.  It will also be a great place to view the Norwegian fjords while having a coffee or a bite to eat.

Celebrity Infinity Tour – Unchanged by Upgrade

The Sunset Bar is the best outdoor location on the ship.  It didn’t need any changes and repainting the support posts from brown to white actually made the appearance slightly less impressive.  It’s still a remarkable place, though.

The circular buffet in the Oceanview Cafe is a passenger friendly layout.  The sushi display looks superb.  The pizzeria is a great feature.  Home-made ice cream in many varieties is right there for dessert.  I’m not sure I like to mosaic tile background, but this venue gets full marks for the quality of its food, the layout and the superb ocean views.

Celebrity Infinity Tour – Dining

As part of the tour, Celebrity provided dinner.  Appetizers of shrimp cocktail, light mushroom soup and spinach salad with feta cheese.  Leading up brilliantly to the fillet mignon cooked to perfection.  This was followed by divine chocolate melting cake, ice cream and coffee – an unrivaled dining experience.

The Celebrity Infinity gets high marks for the quality of the cruise experience that they provide their guests.
