Visit Cabo San Lucas – El Arco

El Arco is the premier tourist attraction for those who visit Cabo San Lucas.  Take a boat or kayaking expedition to see the famous arch.  El Arco is at the tip of the point just south of the harbor.  Visit Lover’s Beach, which is called Divorce Beach when the tide covers it over.  Watch out for rogue waves.

On your way back from El Arco, snorkel at Playa Empacadora beach, which is immediately south of the small inner harbor.  Read our Cabo San Lucas Shore Excursion blog.

Cabo San Lucas Weather

Cabo San Lucas weather is excellent during the winter, which makes it popular with tourists.  You can expect average highs from February to April of 80 F (27 C) and no rainfall.  The lows average around 55 F (15 C) then.  During the height of summer, highs are around 92 F (32 C) with lows of about 75 F (24 C).  Small amounts of rain fall from August to October.  February is likely the best time to visit Cabo San Lucas, but any winter month is a great choice.

Get to Cabo San Lucas

Tourists get to Cabo San Lucas in two main ways.  People fly in to Cabo’s international airport or they get to Cabo San Lucas on a cruise ship.  From the airport it’s about a 15 minute cab or hotel shuttle bus ride to town.  Cabo is not large enough to support a metro system for rapid transit.  Many hotels in nearby San Jose del Cabo also have shuttles.  San Jose del Cabo is about 30 minutes east of Cabo San Lucas along the coast.

Most cruise ships arrive on one week cruises that start in California.  Cabo doesn’t have a cruise ship terminal, so passengers take tender boats to the inner harbor to start their shore excursions.

Visit Cabo San Lucas – Background

Cabo San Lucas is also called Cabo.  Around 100,000 people live there.  Cabo San Lucas has been a popular tourist location since development of the area began in the 1970s.  Los Cabos is the area between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo with lots of beach resorts, golf courses and gated retirement communities.  Cabo San Lucas is very popular during spring break.  Cabo has a small protected inner harbor, which is home to vessels for sport fishing, whale watching, parasailing and excursions to El Arco nearby.
